This is a compelling book that is pretty hard to read as the situations described are horrendous

Samar details through her own experiences and her interviews with combatants the course of events that have lead to the atrocities that still unbelievably continue relentlessly today. This is a compelling book that is pretty hard to read as the situations described are horrendous.

A compelling read

The book is in many ways a diary written during hectic travels through war torn northern Syria so understandably it is a little disjointed. However, once you read it for what it is, it is a compelling and thought provoking narrative. The people she interviewed spoke under severe conditions and did so because they thought she would get their messages to the outside world but it is unclear what they wanted the outside world to do in response. Most want desperately to get rid of Assad but there is a wide variety of opinions on what should happen next. The author is brave, bright and articulate. She should now write a book describing what the oppressed Syrian people want from the rest of the world.

Also, I initially complained when this book did not arrive as promised. Wordery, the distributor, apologized and quickly sent the book.

Samar Yazbek's journalistic record of her three crossings from Turkey into war-torn northwestern Syria provides stark descriptions of daily life under bombardment by the Syrian government, the plethora of Syrian rebel groups fighting the Assad regime, Syrian civilians defending themselves against criminal gangs bent on rape and pillage, and foreigners who swarm into Syria to establish a criminal, pseudo-religious empire. Yazbek interviewed a wide variety of Syrians, including women and children, who try to live amid the terror. Yazbek lays waste to any notions that putting a stop to the carnage will be simple. Read this and help a refugee to safety!

About the Author
Matthias Otto is Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg in Germany. He was born in Dresden (Germany) and did all his studies at the University of Leipzig. In 1984 he moved to Freiberg (Germany) as a lecturer and was appointed full Professor there in 1987. Since that time he has taught almost all aspects of Analytical Chemistry mainly within the curricula of chemistry, applied sciences and geoecology and organizes courses in basic and advanced chemometrics. He is author and editor of successful textbooks in analytical chemistry.

Seems to have a good amount of information

Seems to have a good amount of information; however, it can be a little hard to understand at times. When I was new to chemometrics it confused me a good amount, especially with my limitied stats/math background. Now after being in the field for a little bit, it is a good book to refer back to

Informative but broad

An informative book that covers a wide range of topics in chemometrics. About a third of the book deals with statistics, giving a good review to signal processing, ANOVA, t-tests, etc. For someone that wanted a book dealing only with chemometrics, it is disappointing to find a big portion of the book dedicated to basic statistics. A lot of topics are covered but not all in much detail. For example, there are 3 pages on SIMCA, 4 pages on PCR and PLS. There are more details when you get into the sections on neural networks and fuzzy theory. The examples are OK but not always easy to follow if you are not familiar with a particular method because steps are skipped. This book is a great overview of chemometrics-useful to refresh memories or get new ideas for data treatment- but needs to be supplemented with additional resources to learn more any one particular method. Fortunately the author includes a "general reading" section at the end of each chapter which provides references for books with more details.

I have a very cool life because of Drew's first book, The Very Cool Life Code, and I've been looking forward to his next one.

Let It Go is simple in language, yet sophisticated in it's message. Easy and quick to read, yet so powerful you will want to savor it's meaning and re-read it again and again. Drew is one of my favorite Law of Attraction gurus because of how he takes what can come across as a complex idea and give you a very simple, easy to understand, practical way of looking at it. Let It Go is filled with many, many examples and tools to help you let go of what's holding you back from having what you desire out of life.

"Your only job is to relax and stay in the knowing and clear expectation that what you want is on they way." I expected that this book would help me let go of little things in life that I allow to grow to even bigger things...and I was not disappointed.

You're reading this review because you were drawn to the title, right? Who doesn't want to LET IT GO??? "In order to be a match to having what you want, laying down your resistance is very often the most powerful thing you can do." In other words, let it go...

I appreciate this follow-up to "The Very Cool Life Code". Drew's straightforward and to-the-point language really resonates with me. And because I know this is a practice, I find myself going back frequently to re-read passages and fuel my thoughts.

I love this book. And I imagine I will "gift" it several times over.

What I love about Drew's writing is that he's really straightforward, simple and real. This material can get very conceptual without any grounding in the human experience. Drew always has real-life examples and easy ways to apply the tools. The feeling I get when I read this book is exactly what its title implies: Let It Go. The tools are so simple and accessible, it's just a no-brainer way to breathe easier and have way more fun. Drew is candid with his own experiences, warts and all, so you're not being lectured at, believe me. It's like you're having a chat with a guy sitting on a bench sharing a beer and he's leveling with you. I mean, hey, if he's got some simple ways to make things better, why not give it a listen? Enjoy this short, but powerful book. It's all in there.
